This is John Batchler, a conversation with my colleague Bob Zimmerman about low-earth orbit.

Low-Earth orbit is filled with constellations of communication satellites. Starlink is one of them.

They're competitors launching now. Also, all of the astronauts are in low-earth orbit.

Always. The ISS always at low- orbit, rendezvous in low Earth orbit.

All of the spy satellites, all of the weather satellites, all of the TV satellites, everything

is at low Earth orbit. There are a few in geosynchronous orbit, that is, for another concern.

Low Earth orbit is gasoline alley. It is also completely insecure. Bob explains the future

of the lower Earth orbit is the future of security. Maybe not. Here's Bob. Well, you know,

you mentioned the security thing. I'd like to point out that with Starfish, being able to maneuver

and inspect satellites, the same thing with Astroscale. That's something the military in the

U.S. will be very interested in as a business model, because they want to be able to inspect other

satellites and maybe grab them for military purposes. So there's a market there in that area.

As for controlling traffic control, John, I fear it

because right now the companies themselves work,

try to work very well together,

and it's the most efficient way.

I really fear you get a big government operation

to try to control this.
