I welcome Jeff because we begin the last hours of winter,

the first hours of springtime on this particular day, the 20th day, March every year. And those

of us who are senior find it especially dear because we cannot know, no one knows, how many more first days of spring you will greet

with the cold weather and my cold fingers. So I go to Jeff to warm up a little bit.

Jeff, it's not fair, but there it is. You've had spring for weeks and weeks, and we're just

anticipating with the daffodils popping through the ground, spring is

coming. How goes your springtime, Jeff? Good day to you. Good day, John. Really, we've moved

right from spring into summer. It's just been very warm up here on the central coast, which I'm in

San Luis Obispo. It's a great little town

about halfway up the state. And it's gorgeous. The weather, you know, the skies are clear,

but I stepped out a couple times yesterday, and it was 102 easily. And it just, it was, it was one of

those heat waves that makes you want to stay inside. I know a lot of people were thinking,

where's the next building that has AC, whether it was a store or a building, you know, an office

or something. People couldn't get out of their cars and over those places with air conditioning

soon enough.

102 degrees. It sure sounds good when it's minus seven, you know, in February. In February, that was

when my Spaniel's Charlie and Sailor, when I would open the door for them at 5.30 in the morning,

and I would say, okay, guys, go outside and they'd stand there looking at me like, are you first?

What are you doing?

And the snow stayed with us and said, well, I've still got patches of snow.

We had a very cold winter.
