This is John Batchel, a conversation with a colleague Bill Roshio about what's gone wrong in the

Strait of Hormuz, the Iran War, and the anticipation that this would be a quick rollover four days

is now no longer operative. What is to be done? Bill looks at the experience we've had these last years in Afghanistan and Iraq

and other countries, Somalia, certainly, Sudan. Rolling over a dedicated leadership is not

straightforward. Boots on the ground is one detail. However, the assumption that American air power would carry the day, well, Bill explains an assumption that didn't work.

Is Bill Radio much more of this tonight?

The U.S. belief, the Trump administration believes, I do believe the nuclear weapons are an issue, John.

They do not want this regime to possess nuclear weapons.

And they thought that the best, they thought that this would be easy to get regime changed.

You want to ensure this regime doesn't possess nuclear weapons.

You get rid of the regime. They thought that this regime

would collapse under the pressure against its military, against the military targets, take out the

Navy, take out the Air Force, attack all of these, all of the regime targets, kill the leaders,

and it would just collapse. I, you know, I wish they had talked to some of us who are students of recent history.

Look at Saddam Hussein.

That didn't work in the first Gulf War.

It didn't work in the second Gulf War either.

It took troops on the ground to get them out.

I want to note that Iran has its terms to end this war.

It stated them just this weekend.

It said that the U.S. needs to get out of the Middle East.

They're indicating that they're going to stick it out.
