with Indeed. This is John Batchez. Colle colleague Jim Finnell, Captain of U.S. Navy

retired intelligence officer, apprises why Diego Garcia, part of the Chegos Islands, is critical

and why Britain is wrong to give it away to Mauritius where we're told there is heavy Chinese influence.

Here's Jim to explain. There's much more to this, but we begin.

And it is a significant base down there.

We have been basically given permission by the United Kingdom to operate there, and we have been doing it for

decades. And we have, there's a almost 12,000 foot runway there, so any of our bombers, B1s,

can operate from there. Any other aircraft that we have can operate out of that airfield. Plus,

there's a major port there that can allow aircraft carriers to pull in.

So it is a significant and strategic location, and it gives us assured access for the global reach that our military is designed to do.

So this deal that was agreed to in 2025 by the Starmer administration in the UK with Mauritius

and has now been turned into a law that was written by their foreign minister, David Lammy.

That bill is up for consideration in the House of Lords and the Commons in the UK.

And by President Trump speaking out this week and saying that this is a stupid idea,

it's going to give energy to the forces in the UK that don't think it's a good idea.
