I'm John Batchel with Nilo Tabrizzi, the co-author with her colleague Fatima Jammapur,

for the sun after long nights, the story of September 22 to just now, three years later,

the women-led uprising in Iran against the regime that is sadistic and murderous and homicidal everywhere,

a siege, the morality police so-called who beat a young woman to death for no cause,

and the IRGC, all of those tentacles that reach out to follow the metaphor that Nilu raises.

However, there's a moment where the judges who condemn people to death or years in prison for no reason whatsoever come to Evan prison.

And there is a women's section of the prison where they all live with bunk beds and take care of each other.

And there's one window, I believe, to the mountains.

But the women's stage, a trial.

Please explain, Nilo, what happens?

Right.

So we learned about this through Nagas Mohamedi, who is an iconic women's rights

activist in Iran and a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. And she published on her Instagram account

because, you know, something people may not understand about Avine is even though you are

imprisoned there, many people continue their activism while they're

inside. So there are ways that they can communicate with the outside world. They can write letters

and write on Instagram. So what we learned through Nargis Mohamedi, she wrote a letter on her

Instagram account and she told the story of this day in December

2023 when these judges who had given, one of them had given the death sentence for the first protester sentence to death and then executed in relation with the 2020 protests.

When this judge came, the women decided that they

would take action. And in our book, you know, we, because so much of what we were trying to do

is really just platform and elevate these voices from inside Iran that many people may not
