0:09.7	We're looking in on Iran. Since the B2 raid of summer of 2025, the assumption has been in many headlines that Iran is subdued or in retreat or tucking up its wounds,
0:23.3	looking to reestablish its credibility with its own people.
0:27.6	However, Iran is a very active and aggressive predator state in a region where there is much opportunity for predators.
0:35.6	For example, the Straits of Hormuz, and in these last hours, a story that needs a lot more
0:40.4	explanation from the region.
0:44.5	All we have is the headline.
0:46.8	Iran has seized a vessel, it says, was carrying smuggled fuel in the Straits of Hormuz.
0:53.1	The Iranian Foreign Ministry did not comment when asked by the reporter at Newsweek.
0:59.3	We set that aside to remind you that Iran still has the power of cutting off the
1:04.1	Straits of Hormuz that would damage the world economy indefinitely.
1:08.8	And Iran still has the power to taunt the European powers and the
1:15.0	United Nations and the U.S. with a suspect nuclear weapons program that is said to be re-engineering
1:21.3	itself, even as we comment that we don't know what's going on inside those tunnels that were
1:26.6	destroyed.
1:34.5	However, there are other larger stories, and I welcome Jonathan Saya of the Foundation for Defense of Democracy, who watches Iran for us.
1:37.7	Jonathan, I want to go to the story of the rumors of conversation, dialogue, back-ch channel communication between Washington and Tehran.
1:48.4	We last talked to them saying that there was smoke but no fire.
1:52.5	Has anything given you to understand there's dialogue in some fashion?
1:57.1	Maybe through a cutout, maybe through a third party, you know, the Swiss legation
