I'm John Batchler, the U.S.M.C.A. United States, Mexico, and Canada, what is to be done? Right now, the Trump

administration has indicated it will not extend the U.S. participation in the U.S.MCA as of now.

I need explanation on this because there are lots of caveats and details here that were

originally set up in 2020 when the USMCA made his debut.

The USMCA has not been extended by the Trump administration. However, there are reasons to believe the negotiations will continue for some time. What are the rules, Mary? Good evening to you.

Well, good evening, John. When Donald Trump renegotiated the North American Free Trade Agreement and renamed it, USMCA.

He put a provision in there where he said, in six years from 2020, there will be a review of the agreement.

And if all three parties agree that the agreement should continue, all three parties will sign, and the agreement will continue

for another 16 years. So that was one bad component of the agreement because, you know,

it introduces a lot of uncertainty. So we're at that six-year period, and there's been a review,

and yesterday, not yesterday, I'm sorry, last week,

July 1st, Donald Trump announced he would not sign for another 16 years. So Mexico and Canada

have already said they would sign, but Trump says, no, I will not sign. Now, that's a big

headline in the papers last week, but what you actually have happening

is no change at all.

Nothing changes according to the agreement.

And nothing will change.

He can continue negotiating today, tomorrow, next week, next month, and so forth.

And if they don't come to any kind of an agreement, next year, a year from now,
