Hello everyone.

Here on Pites with Jack, we're reading our way through the works of C.S. Lewis.

And you may recall that earlier in the year, Andrew attended the mere Anglicanism conference. And I had originally been scheduled to attend, but with the blessing of conceiving our next child,

my wife had her usual, unfortunately very severe morning sickness.

So in the end, I had to cancel. But since I didn't

get to attend the conference, I decided to experience it virtually here on the podcast by inviting

on the various speakers onto the show. And some of them we've had before, Dr. Crave, Dr. Ward and

Dr. Root. And today we get to add another name to that list, Dr. Philip Reichen. And this episode's opening

quotation comes from him from an essay he wrote entitled Lewis as the patron state of American

evangelicalism. And evangelicalism will be the broad theme of today as I speak to Dr. Reichen

both about that essay, as well as his assessment of Lewis's view on scripture and his work

as an evangelist. For those of you who haven't encountered him yet, Dr. Philip Reichen is a Wheaton native

and both his parents taught at Wheaton College, home of the Wade Center. He went to that school

for his undergraduate, majoring in English literature and philosophy. Shortly after

arriving, he met his wife Lisa, and they were married before their senior year. He has been a

professor of theology there since 2010, and he is their eighth president of the college. Dr. Philip
