Summary

Lisa Steven said yes to God when she had no idea how to run a residential program for single moms—and He's been showing up ever since. From miraculous provision to stories of young mothers discovering their dignity as image bearers, Lisa shares what it looks like to build Hope House on total dependence on God rather than her own strength. This is a conversation about saying yes even when you're not equipped, and watching God surround you with exactly what you need.

It's kind of incredible. But the couple of things I want you to notice about her story.

0:27.4

One is that it was the very thing that she thought would take her out of life, out of anything

meaningful, out of being influential in any way. And that is the very thing that God

0:40.6

used in her life to bring life to so many others. Because Lisa had a teenage pregnancy herself.

0:48.3

And those are the kind of things that we think will just take us out, right? That like we can't do

0:53.4

anything meaningful now. We've ruined our lives, right? But as you'll see in this story, well, just take us out, right? That, like, we can't do anything meaningful now.

0:54.7

We've ruined our lives, right?

0:56.6

But as you'll see in this story, that's just not true.

0:58.7

That's not how God works.

And I wonder, for you guys listening today, is there something in your life that you think,

1:06.0

well, that just did me in?

1:07.9

Bring it before the Lord.

1:09.6

And you'll see, as in so many other stories on the podcast

1:13.7

that we share, that it's so often those things that we think will take us out, which are

1:20.6

actually the things that put us in in a very meaningful way. So that's the first thing I want

1:25.9

you to notice. The second thing I want you to notice

1:28.1

about her story is that whenever God is inviting us to participate with him, it almost always

1:36.3

starts very small. And notice in Lisa's story, it started very small. She was just tapped to help out with a mop's teenage mom's

1:48.0

group. Then it grew, and she gathered friends around her. And then there was this heaviness on her
