Summary

What if your calling is already right in front of you? Steve Garber helps us see that vocation isn't primarily about the perfect career path or the unique occupations we have; it's about responding to a God who speaks and calls us to faithfulness in the small, everyday moments that make up our lives. Steve joins me this week to talk about calling, living with integrity, and why the "little moments" in life are more significant than we think.

Welcome back to the Strong Women podcast. I'm so glad you're here with me today. You know,

0:05.3

all of us wonder, why am I here and what am I here for, right? Those are some big questions

0:11.5

that all of us ask. In today's conversation, I have one of my favorite authors and friends. His

0:17.6

name is Steve Garber. He wrote a book called Visions of Vocation that really impacted the way

0:23.9

I answer these questions. And I can't wait for you to hear this whole conversation. But one of the

0:30.2

things that we talk a lot about at the Colson Center is that it's not an accident that we are in this

0:37.2

time and place.

0:38.6

Like, this is on purpose, which is a beautiful thing about the Christian worldview

0:43.1

that is true about all of reality, is that we were made by a loving creator

0:48.2

on purpose with a purpose, as Dr. Kathy Cook likes to say, for this time and place. But not only that is not an

0:58.2

accident, but it is actually our calling this time in place, where we find ourselves. What are we

1:05.5

responsible for? Who are we called to love? All of those things factor into our design and why we're here. How we

1:14.1

answer that question, who am I and why am I here? Now, the Colson Center has wonderful questions

1:19.8

as you're trying to map out like, what am I called to? What is my corner of the world? And the questions

1:26.4

are, what is good that can be promoted?

1:29.4

What's missing that can be added? What's broken that I can work to mend? And what's evil

1:36.6

that must be stopped? These are all good questions for us to ask as we're thinking about what we

1:42.7

have to offer in our corners of the world. What are the giftings

1:46.2

we've been given, the responsibilities we've been given, the people we've been entrusted to love,

1:52.6

and the communities that we're a part of. All of this plays into what is our vocation, right?

2:00.1

Well, I hope you enjoy this conversation with Steve. Steve has

2:05.0

written many books. And like I say at the beginning of the interview, if you want to hear more
