Hey, this is Shelby and Scott. Thanks for joining us wherever you are listening. Don't forget to

0:10.4

subscribe or follow so you get these episodes right to your device every single day. We're going to jump

0:16.6

right into God's Word today. We're in First Chronicles 6 through 9. Scott, we are finishing up the genealogies

0:23.0

in Chronicles. And I'm sure for some people, their eyes are glazed over just a little bit. I know

0:29.4

that can surely happen to me when I'm reading through genealogies. But we talked about this

0:34.5

yesterday. Even though we can't always make sense of them right away or they might not be fun to read, they are really important.

0:40.6

So can you break down the genealogies that we see in today's reading?

0:44.2

1:10.3

world. And the genealogies got the plans for the world.

1:15.5

And the genealogies are a way for the author to establish continuity between them and the past,

1:18.8

and to show them that God's plans are still moving forward, still moving forward.

1:27.2

And that despite how insignificant they might seem, God is still intends to use them to bless the nations like he had promised to do through Abraham.

1:35.6

And I should mention here, like two really, really big themes in Chronicles, which, first of which is just David and the kings who come from him.

1:38.7

So just the monarchy, if you will.

1:42.2

And specifically that promise of a future king to come from David's line

1:45.8

who would rule forever. And so the second theme is the temple. So there's going to be a huge,

1:53.7

huge focus throughout these books on the temple and specifically of worship. And I think you see
