Summary

In this week’s episode, Terri and Dom are joined by Linda Leu, the Executive Director of IMPACT Bay Area. In Spring 2019 Dom and Terri participated in IMPACT’s first self-defense class specifically for women of color. Linda led that course. In this conversation, the ladies reflect on that experience but more importantly, Linda shares information about self-defense techniques beyond the physical skills. She also explains what happens to many of us who experience the freeze response and how we can work our way through it. This is definitely an episode you want to listen through to the end. Quote of the Day: “If you don’t respect her, you obviously don’t deserve her.” Takeaways: “The best fight is no fight” 5 Best Practices for Self Defense Listen to your intuition Use your voice Practice using tools before having to use them Practice setting boundaries in small ways Do what you have to do to be comfortable Resources: Website: Impactbayarea.org Instagram: @impactbayarea Melanin and Mental Health Therapy for Black Girls Psychology Today Therapy for QPOC Where to find us: Twitter: @HERspacepodcast Instagram: @herspacepodcast Facebook: @herspacepodcast Website: herspacepodcast.com Email: [email protected] H.E.R Space Sanctuary: https://www.facebook.com/groups/herspacesanctuary/
