Hey friends, welcome back to a year in the Bible. My name is Beth, and I'm here with my co-host, Alexa.

0:36.9

Hi, friends. Today we are taking a deeper look at the passage we annotated yesterday, Zachariah 9-9. So to begin that conversation, Beth, can you tell us about the context of Zechariah 9-9? Yeah, so Zechariah is another one of the minor prophets. So it is similar to the other books that we've been studying lately. I love that we have records of what God told Israel after the exile.

1:35.1

Like you said, it's encouraging to see the hope that God promised Israelites when they were in exile

1:39.9

is still coming and is coming really soon.

1:43.0

Do you want to help us understand more about why this

1:45.7

king would be so important? Yeah, so we have seen this promised king mentioned before. He is the one

1:50.7

who is coming to defeat sin and death and crush the serpent's head that we saw in Genesis 3. He's

1:55.8

the one who is going to establish the reign of Judah. He is the one who's going to sit on David's
