Hey everyone. Welcome back to a year in the Bible. I'm Beth and I'm here with my co-host Alexa.

Hi everyone. This week we're going to be studying

Micah 5-2 and Matthew 2 4 through 6 and we're going to learn that Jesus is the promised Messiah from David's line.

Yeah, exactly. In typical Monday fashion, today we're going to be talking through our annotations for this week's Old Testament passage, which is Micah 5.2.

So Alexa, can you read that verse for us?

Yes. Bethlehem Afrotha, you're small among the clans of Judah. One will come from you

to be ruler over Israel for me. His origin is from antiquity from ancient times. Beth, do you want

to share how your annotations went for this passage? So this passage was fun to annotate. The prompts

had us focus on two main things in this first. It had us focus on Israel or cities within Israel,

and then the description of the ruler that's mentioned here. So for Israel, I circled

Bethlehem, Apratha, Judah, and Israel. Then I also circled the phrase small among the clans, because that is

referring to Bethlehem, a city within Israel. And then for the ruler, I underlined the phrases

over Israel, and then the phrase origin from antiquity from ancient times. I thought that last phrase

was just so beautiful. Even if I wasn't entirely

sure what it meant at the time, I thought it was really, really just lovely wording there.
