Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes

0:05.5

with you every day walking through our study Christ and all of Scripture. Each week we

0:09.8

will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from

0:14.1

the New, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus. Whether you are doing the study

0:18.8

yourself or just following along with us here, we are

0:21.7

hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present

0:26.6

throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it.

0:31.6

Hey friends, welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa, and I'm here of my co-host, Beth.

0:36.8

Hey, everyone. Today we're going to be

0:38.6

making the Christ connection between the verses that we looked at this week, Ruth 4, 14 through 15 and John 1010.

1:05.2

This provided provision and protection for both Naomi and Ruth, but God also provided for Naomi and Ruth in a unique way

1:12.7

by giving Ruth a son, Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse, who was the father of David. But from David's

1:19.7

line came Jesus, the ultimate king. So God was physically providing for Ruth and Naomi, but he was also

1:26.4

spiritually providing for them by making it so that from Ruth's offspring would come the one who would bring life for all people who would place their trust in him.

1:35.1

Jesus. If we look back at Ruth 4 14 through 15, the woman tell Naomi that God has renewed her life and sustained her through not only Boaz,

1:45.5

but through the son birth to Ruth and Boaz. So continuing the family line and having an heir

1:51.6

was extremely important in biblical times. And so God is faithful to give Naomi the provisions

1:56.7

she needs through Boaz and this heir. But the life given to Naomi was only a glimpse of the life

2:02.3

that would come from this heir's offspring. Yeah, I just love how this story shows how God provides
