excited to dive deeper into Joshua 21, 43 through 45 with you all today. Yes. So, Beth, do you

want to start us off by telling us where this passage fits in the biblical story? Of course.

So the passage that we're studying this week comes toward the end of the book of Joshua.

So after Joshua had brought the second generation of Israelites into the promised land,

and they had defeated the Cadenites who were living there,

and they were finally settling down in the land that God had given them.

As this passage says, they were finally given rest.

And so what this moment is is it's fulfilling all that God has been doing in

Israel since he called Abraham back in Genesis 12. And so we see that the people of Israel have

already become a great nation, which actually began in Exodus when we saw that their numbers had

grown and they had become a great people instead of just a small family.

And then they were enslaved in Egypt and then they were delivered from that slavery and taken to the land that God had reserved for them.

But they were outside of that land for a while.
