This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ and all of Scripture.

0:09.0

Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New,

0:15.0

seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.

0:17.0

Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are

0:21.7

hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present

0:26.6

throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hi, everyone. Welcome back to a year in the

0:34.1

Bible. My name is Beth, and I'm here with my co-host, Alexa.

0:42.4

Hey, friends. We are going to be making the Christ connection today between the two passages we've been studying this week, Numbers 21, 4 through 9, and John 3, 14 through 16. So, Alexa,

1:06.2

through 16 yesterday, I was like, oh yeah, I totally forgot that Jesus is the one who talks about

1:10.7

this in John 3. And, you know, John 316 is such a popular passage. And it's often quoted in

1:18.3

isolation from the rest of the verses around it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it is

1:23.4

really fascinating when we read John 3, 14 through 16 altogether. For sure. I was thinking the same

1:29.2

thing about just how common this verse is and how the context is really cool and helpful. So what do we

1:34.9

learn as we read these verses? Yeah, when reading all of John 314 through 16, we get a more

1:40.9

complete picture of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross.

1:50.0

In John 314, Jesus says that just as Moses lifted up the bronze snake and the wilderness,

1:51.8

so will he be lifted up.
