0:39.5	going to be going deeper into the passage that we annotated and talked about yesterday, Numbers 21, 4 through
0:45.5	9. So as we get started, Alexa, can you tell us just where this passage falls at the overall
0:51.1	story of scripture? Yeah, I think it's helpful to know that the Israelites in this passage are a group that's
0:56.0	often called the second generation Israelites.
0:58.8	If we go back to number 13, we read that the Israelites finally make it to the promised land,
1:04.2	which is the land of Canaan.
1:05.9	But before they go into the land, spies are sent to scout out the land.
1:09.1	And some of the spies end up giving a negative
1:11.5	report to the Israelites saying that the people in the land are stronger than the Israelites and are
1:16.0	essentially like giants. And this causes the Israelites to panic in Numbers 14. They question God
1:22.7	and even decide to take matters into their own hands by saying that they're going to appoint their
1:27.4	own leader
1:27.8	and go back to Egypt, which let me just say boggles my mind because they have made it to the
