Summary
Bob delivers a quick update on our Season 4 Case: The wrongful Conviction of George Powell.
Bob also announces a combined fan meetup with Jim Clemente, Laura Richards and Lisa Zambetti. We will all be meeting fans for drinks, along with Lizz Rose, Stephanie Davies, and the hosts of A Date With Dateline podcast. The meetup will take place on Wednesday 2/6 at Mom's Bar, in Santa Monica. We have the room beginning at 7pm.

| 1:22.0 | Yesterday we finally got word that Judge John Gaunt and Bel County Texas has finally issued a ruling in George Powell's case. |
| 1:34.0 | I haven't had time to read the entire 100 page ruling yet but at the end of the ruling it states that George Powell's conviction will be vacated. |
| 1:52.0 | Mike Ware and the other Innocence Project attorneys argued for George's actual innocence last year. |
| 1:58.0 | While the judge did not declare George actually innocent in this ruling, he has overturned the conviction based on Brady violations. |
| 2:13.0 | But unfortunately in Texas, George is not yet a free man. |
| 2:18.0 | In Texas all rulings like this had to then be moved up to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals for the judge's decision to be reviewed. |
| 2:26.0 | And unfortunately that means George likely will have to still sit in prison until they rule on the case. |
| 2:32.0 | Which could be any length of time. It could even be years from now. |
| 2:36.0 | But the conviction being vacated is not the only thing that the CCA is going to be ruling on. |
| 2:41.0 | They're also going to be ruling on the judge's decision to not grant actual innocence based on the junk science and new evidence that was presented in the hearings last year. |
| 2:52.0 | I was in contact with Mike Ware of the Innocence Project of Texas just a few moments ago and he sent me the following message. |
