Well, so I think the kind of principal trade-off that we had to make, do we want to build our own terminal?

That would allow us to do a lot of the stuff that we do, but just make it much more easy.

Like right now, we have to do a bunch of different hacks in order to understand what working directory are terminals in and what process is running.

Because we are so deep in the user's environment,

in the super early stages,

because Fig has been sourced already in your batch profile,

but the app has been deleted, it might just start logging stuff in your terminal.

And it may seem like, oh my God, Fig has completely crashed your computer.

He was the kid who always had a side hustle going on.

Once he got to college, he built a currency converting startup to help him pay his tuition fees.

And he has been toying around with startup ideas ever since.

His partner, Matt Shraig, is from San Francisco originally, and he confesses that it's hard to escape tech when you are from the area.

He started coding as early as middle school and hasn't stopped since.

And outside of tech, he builds more tech, tinkering with embedded hardware, robotics, and many machines.

After applying to Y Combinator, they were invited to interview with the accelerator.
