One of the things that makes you actually fast as an engineer is your ability to prioritize.

It's your ability to not get rabbit hold into spending three hours fixing some kind of unnecessary to fix config file or gold-plating something.

Or a thing that makes great engineers great, honestly, is they Google really well, or they're extremely savvy at using Stack Overflow to get the answer that they need.

You're not going to have an interview process step where you say,

Google the answer for this thing.

I'm going to, like, that's ridiculous.

But if you have someone build a real feature and you get out of the way,

then all of these little things that go into being a really good engineer,

building high quality features fast,

all that stuff will get captured and tested and evaluated.

At 18 years old, Dan Robinson was 100% convinced that he was going to be a mathematician.

He went to college at Stanford, and when he got there, he realized that math beyond high school

was very different, and as such, he didn't want to make that his day job.

He always enjoyed making stuff specifically with computers, and he started leaning into

computer science and deep learning projects.

He loves to hike, be outside with his friends, recently has gotten addicted to chess online,

though he claims he's not any good at it, and so addicted that he had to give his close friend

his account password to keep him accountable.
