Summary

Agnes' first symptom was years of back pain after a horseback riding incident. It was then that she stumbled upon this podcast, but she was not yet ready to embrace the paradigm of MindBody medicine. Then came the most unsettling diagnosis - Dry Eye. It may sounds innocuous, but Agnes was in 24 hour pain and discomfort. She could no longer wear the contact lenses she had used without incident for eighteen years, and she was advised that makeup was also forbidden. Agnes' doctor went as far as to tell her that she would most certainly be suffering for a lifetime, and things would only get worse. It wasn't until he advised her to stop breastfeeding to allow for daily use of steroid eye drops that Agnes put her foot down. As I say in my story: "Mess with me, but don't mess with my kids!" 0:22.7	Really, really cool story today. And the kind of content that is important because even though
0:29.3	I say and I preach all the time that so many chronic conditions come from the same genesis,
0:37.1	from the same place, which is
0:39.1	nervous system dysregulation, an overflowing emotional reservoir that we have no idea about
0:45.3	and stored trauma. Sometimes it's really helpful to hear about your struggle or your symptom,
0:53.5	and I don't have a lot of content on the eyes in general,
0:59.0	any sort of eye problems. I do have my very best friend, Danielle, who's been on the podcast
1:05.3	at least two, maybe three times, talking about her overly tearing eyes, her eyes that were crying all the time,
1:14.6	causing her tremendous pain and symptoms.
1:18.9	And it was almost like she had a chronic conjunctivitis, although there were no findings of that,
1:24.8	just because they were inflamed and they would be stuck
1:28.4	together with pus and it was just, it was really, really an ongoing thing for her until she
1:36.5	relented and did the work and of course completely and utterly relieved those symptoms in her
1:42.5	eyes that, and that was, that story was probably six or
1:46.6	seven years ago. And Danielle comes every summer to our retreat at the Omega Institute.
1:51.9	And she will be back again this summer where we will be in just about two months exactly.
