My name is Kristen Schbucker and we are journeying through the New Testament.

We're currently looking at the Book of Romans and today we are studying Romans too.

Take a moment to imagine the scene with me.

You buy a pretty large chunk of land.

On this property you will build your dream home. A beautiful two-story home with a

wrap-around porch, but there's one big problem. There's already a house on the property.

It's dilapidated from decades of neglect.

Bricks are scattered throughout the yard. Wood is rotting away.

The ceiling is caved in. To make room for the new you have to tear down the old. You have to bulldoze it.

In today's chapter, Romans 2, Paul is bulldozing any righteousness we may feel like we have.

Any claim to good we may have in ourselves.

Paul tears it down so that something new may be built,

so that Jesus can come in and build his home within us. As Paul began painting the portrait of

sin in the world for us yesterday, he's going to get even more personal today.

He's going to hold a mirror up to the Roman Church and to us today to show us that we

to deserve death. We too deserve the wrath of God and nothing we can do in our own
