0:27.7	journeying through the New Testament, and this is a very exciting day because today we are
0:33.0	beginning the book of Romans. J. I. Packer, who is an author and theologian in his book,
0:39.5	Knowing God, says, all roads in the Bible lead to Romans, and all views afforded by the Bible
0:46.8	are seen most clearly from Romans. And when the message of Romans gets into a person's heart,
0:52.9	there is no telling what may happen. Martin Luther,
0:56.8	best known for starting the Protestant Reformation, describes Romans as the chief part of the New
1:02.3	Testament and truly the purest gospel. It is worth not only that every Christian should know it
1:08.6	word for word by heart, but also that he should occupy
1:12.3	himself with it every day as the daily bread of the soul. We can never read it or ponder over it
1:19.4	too much, for the more we deal with it, the more precious it becomes, and the better it tastes.
1:26.2	And finally, John Piper once described Romans as the most important
1:30.6	theological Christian work ever written. Those are some big statements. Why is Romans so beloved?
1:40.5	Throughout Paul's epistle to the Roman church, he clearly describes the depravity of our sin,
1:46.0	our desperate need for the gospel, and how our need for righteousness is fulfilled completely in Jesus.
1:52.9	Paul describes how the gospel changes our lives, not just for eternity, but in the minute
1:58.3	details of our everyday life. Paul gives us hope not just for tomorrow but for today.
2:04.6	As we continue studying Romans, I think we will wholeheartedly understand just why this epistle is so beloved.
