Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is Kristen and my name is Katie and we want to spend a few minutes a day with you walking through the New Testament one chapter at a time.

This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know

him, not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that

who Jesus is changes everything.

Hey friends welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

My name is Katie and we are on a year-long adventure through the New Testament and today is a special day. We will complete our journey

through Luke's cow of the early church known as axe. Sometimes when I think

about the gospel spreading an axe I picture a dark globe with little

lights popping up whenever another family, town, or region hears about the gospel.

Through Paul's ministry, lights flickered on in Syria, in Asia Minor, in Greece, and beyond.

The gospel was spreading like wildfire.

Real people were turning away from their sins and toward Jesus. Today if we were to look at a

globe we would see the island of Malta lighting up with the hope of Christ. We

would also see the Church and Rome begin to glow brighter, for Paul will finally make it there

and preach the gospel even more.

We ended yesterday with a shipwreck on the island of Malta.

Paul is a prisoner on board a ship that was battered by the storm.

Finally, they find relief on an island. The crew is hungry, cold, and wet,

and Luke records the locals of Malta were extraordinarily kind. They lit a fire for the

wind-torn sailors and while helping gather firewood Paul gets bitten by a viper. This is one of those details

in scripture that I always have to do a double take at. As if the storm and the shipwreck

were not enough, he is bitten by a venomous snake that could likely kill him, but it doesn't.
