0:29.9	walk with you through Revelation in our year-long study of the New Testament. Today, we are studying
0:36.8	Revelation 2. As always, you follow along with the
0:40.5	Behold Studies in the Daily Gracecoe Shop or with the reading plan linked in the show notes.
0:45.9	All right, we're diving back into Revelation. Are you ready? Today and tomorrow's chapters
0:51.0	will look a little bit different from other chapters in the book of Revelation.
0:55.0	Yesterday we covered that Revelation is not only apocalyptic, it's also an epistle,
1:01.2	written to seven churches scattered throughout Asia Minor.
1:04.5	If you look at a map of these cities, most likely the order they're addressed to you
1:09.0	is the mail route that the letter travels through.
1:12.3	At first glance, these letters can seem a little out of place in the grand scheme of revelation,
1:17.8	but they actually serve as an important anchor to the ground, so to speak,
1:22.0	reminding us that this revelation was given to encourage real churches going through real persecution. This book was written
1:30.1	to encourage them to endure suffering, not to scare them. John's prophecy was given in loving
1:36.7	kindness of a Lord who cares for his bond servants. And so as we read through the rest of
1:43.0	Revelation, I want us to remind us of this anchor.
1:47.0	Because we want to remember that just as this letter was written to encourage seven churches,
1:52.8	it's written to encourage us to. Today and tomorrow, we will study seven letters to the seven churches.
