Today, we are studying Revelation 3.

Jesus' letters to the seven churches, each of whom will be recipients of John's Revelation of Jesus.

In these letters, John addresses real churches suffering real persecution,

with real strengths and real weaknesses.

In the letters, we will find a description of Jesus, a praise of the church,

a rebuke of the church, and a challenge for the church.

However, two out of the seven churches will receive no rebuke, only an

encouragement to keep persevering. Yesterday, we read the letters to Ephesus, Smyrna,

Pergamum, and Thyritira, and today we will study letters to Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laeoticea.

These letters remind us that the book of Revelation was not meant

to be scary and intimidating to its original audience. It was written to encourage the saints

to trust in their faithful father to bring his redemption plan to completion. It was written to inspire
