entire New Testament, and today we are in Matthew 8. It is not too late to join me on this journey. I'm

Yesterday, we finished the sermon on the mount, and today we are going to continue into the life of Jesus.

Chapter 8 begins with Jesus coming down the mountain. The sermon has ended with the crowds

being astonished at the authority that Jesus spoke with, and now these next chapters are going

to display that authority for the crowds to see. The first miracle that we see is Jesus healing a leper.

Leprecy in the ancient world was any skin disease and it made the person

unclean. Being unclean made the person plagued by leprosy and outcast in society and unable to worship in

the temple. They were expected to stay far away from other people. So the fact that this man comes through the

crowds to Jesus is shocking.

The man kneels before Jesus as a sign of respect and called Jesus by the title Lord.

His request is for healing if Jesus is willing. Without understanding just how despised leprosy was in the first century,
