0:26.0	My name is Kristen Schbucker and I am so glad that you are here.
0:30.0	We are in our second week working our way through the New Testament one chapter at a time.
0:36.8	And as a reminder, I am using the free behold reading plan and the Behold study guides from the Daily

0:46.0	So today we are diving into Matthew 6 and we are continuing to look at the sermon on the mount.
0:52.6	Today we are going to take a look at some of my favorite things to talk about,
0:56.5	prayer and anxiety.
0:58.1	I have struggled with both of these at different points in my life,
1:01.9	and maybe you have as well. The start of chapter six
1:06.0	talks about giving, prayer, fasting, and possessions. Jesus is very clear on
1:11.9	these topics that the why is as important as the what.
1:16.0	Jesus encourages us to examine our motives in all things, even in these spiritual practices.
1:23.6	We should not give, pray, or fast to be seen or respected by others.
1:27.9	We do these things for the glory of God alone.
1:31.1	Jesus talks quite a bit about not being like the hypocrites. Most of us are
1:36.7	probably familiar with the word hypocrite, but it's helpful for us to know that in this
1:41.6	culture, hypocrite was another word for actors.
