0:29.4	Welcome back to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is Kristen Schmucker and I am so glad you are here.
0:34.8	We are working our way through the New Testament one chapter at a time. As a reminder, I am using the free behold reading plan

0:44.3	Today is the last day of week one's reading, and I am so excited that we are already
0:49.3	completed our first week.
0:51.2	Today we are diving into Matthew 5 and we're beginning a few days that are set aside to study
0:56.7	the Sermon on the Mount. The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus's longest recorded Serbun. It is found in Matthew 5 through 7 and is one of the most beautiful
1:06.2	and well-known portions of scripture. It would be easy for us to read this beautiful sermon as a
1:12.2	to-do list for how we can be better people.
1:15.2	But that is not the point of this message.
1:17.7	The point of the sermon is that this is who Jesus is, and it is the life that believers live through the power of the Spirit.
1:25.9	Martin Lloyd Jones beautifully said, it not only states the demand, it points to the supply,
1:32.4	and that supply is Jesus. So this isn't about how we should
1:36.2	live but about how we can know love and follow in the steps of the giver of life.
1:41.8	The book of Matthew includes echoes of the story of Moses
1:46.0	and we have already seen some of those so far this week.
1:49.0	Today we see that Jesus is the true and better Moses
