Let's dig in to John 17.

Yesterday in John 16, we wrapped up a three chapter long conversation

between Jesus and his disciples

as he prepared them to continue his work in the world

even after he is not physically with them anymore. Today we read Jesus's words

again but it's a different kind of conversation.

Well, because Jesus is fulfilling a common function of a priest,
