0:55.7	Yesterday in John 16, we wrapped up a three chapter long conversation
1:00.3	between Jesus and his disciples
1:02.4	as he prepared them to continue his work in the world
1:05.1	even after he is not physically with them anymore. Today we read Jesus's words
1:11.4	again but it's a different kind of conversation.
1:14.8	Jesus prays directly to his father in the longest prayer recorded in the
1:19.2	Gospels, a prayer,
1:24.0	why is it called the High Priestly Prayer?
1:26.0	Well, because Jesus is fulfilling a common function of a priest,
1:30.0	intercession.
1:32.0	Intercession is praying on the behalf of another and in the Old
1:36.3	Testament priests would go before God in the Tabernacle or the temple to offer
