Summary

People in our communities often refer to their favorite "Nicole-isms" - things I say over and over that hold a great deal of guidance for your recovery. We decided to dedicate a few podcasts to a deep dive into what I mean by some of these phrases, and how you can get the most out of them to aid in your ease and progress on this path. Today, we are taking on a few big and important ones: What Hurts vs. What Hurts Worse, The Slower You Go the Quicker You Get There, and You're Right Where You Need to Be. You may be surprised at how much we can squeeze from each one. Join us and give yourself the gift of clarity and resolve. Nothing sends a message of safety to the nervous system like understanding and knowledge! XO to you. -n.

bit of time will make it better because it's all we can hope for guys making things a little bit better

0:41.1

So today we're going to talk about something that my community likes to call

0:46.7

Nicoleisms which of course is a little weird and cringy for me to actually say it back like that but the reason people label

0:56.4

these sayings as Nicole Isms is I tend to say certain things again and again as a means to explain mindset or strategy for being

1:09.8

in this space of mind body medicine and the reason why I repeat them well there's a few

1:14.4

reasons one is because I do believe that repetition can really lead to deep

1:19.6

knowledge sometimes you have to hear something a number of different times in a number of

1:24.3

different ways and maybe from a number of different voices which is why I'm glad that

1:28.9

people are repeating me in order to really have it take hold and help you.

1:33.7

So that's the first thing.

1:35.3

And the second thing is that I find that when these concepts can be challenging,

1:41.4

and when you're mired in your own chronic pain or symptom or condition

1:45.8

whatever however it's affecting you it can be a situation where you really need

1:52.1

something to wake you up, pause you, and help you get new perspective.

1:57.8

And I have been gently criticized over the years for using profanity, but when I do, that's why. It's because words have power and phrases have power and when they remind you of something that you need to do in order to maybe write the ship or get yourself out of a little hole that you've fallen into, it can be really helpful.
