My name is Kristen Schmucker and we are journeying through the New Testament and today we jump

back into the book of Colossians.

Today's passage begins with a reminder that Jesus is all that

we need. Paul points the young Kalashin Church to the truth that our salvation is accomplished

by God alone.

Paul wants the believers to be strengthened in their faith

so that they could stand firm in a world that is speaking lies.

I love how Paul points out that the message of the world may even

seem plausible or compelling, but plausible arguments in human logic are not our

standard of truth. Our standard of truth is the living word of God. Paul desires them to know the truth

so that they can stand against the lies of the enemy. I love the message of verses six and seven that tells us

that just as we have received Christ we are to continue to walk in him

being rooted and built up in him. These verses provide a beautiful bridge between the message of who Jesus is that we read in Chapter 1 and the practical instruction that we will see in the rest of the book.
