Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is Kristen and my name is Katie and we want to spend a few minutes a day with you walking through the New Testament one chapter at a time.

This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know

him, not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that

who Jesus is changes everything.

Hi friends welcome back together on a year in the Bible with daily grace

we are reading the new testament in a year. Currently we are venturing through

acts which the author of Luke's gospel Luke provides us with a detailed

account of the establishment and growth of the early church.

If you have already read today's chapter, acts 21, you know that this is not an easy chapter to read.

We are in this together, friends, and I hope by the time we finish discussing today, we are

reminded that following Jesus is well worth the cost.

Speaking of Jesus, as we read the Gospels, we got familiar with a particular journey.

The journey of Jesus heading into Jerusalem.

We know Jesus' time in Jerusalem as Holy Week, the week leading

up to Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Jesus' arrest and sufferings and death aren't as surprised to us as readers, because Jesus

foretold exactly what would happen in Jerusalem.

This makes the journey into the Holy City quite sad and quite ominous, and the same will happen to us today.

Yesterday we learned that Paul was headed to Jerusalem and that there he will suffer.

He also saw a heartbreaking goodbye from Paul to the Ephesian elders, and in verse one of today's chapter,

we see just how difficult that goodbye was. Luke describes leaving the elders as they tore themselves away.
