Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is Kristen and my name is Katie and we want to spend a few minutes a day with you walking through the New Testament one chapter at a time.

This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know

him, not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that

who Jesus is changes everything. Welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

My name is Kristen and we are in 2 Timothy 4.

We began second Timothy by reflecting on the last moment spent with a loved one before they passed.

We thought about those somber conversations, those tender moments, the tears, and the

memories you hold dear. In today's chapter Paul will reflect upon his own

ministry and say, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the

faith. Paul is looking toward the end of his life today.

As he sits in chains in a prison cell in Rome,

today in chapter 4, Paul closes his final letter to Timothy by encouraging Timothy's ministry, making a few requests,

and asking Timothy to come visit him one last time.

As we read, we will be encouraged to make much of Jesus with the days we're given, so that when

we meet our own final days, we too can say, I have kept the faith.

Yesterday, Paul established a high view of scripture, reminding Timothy that all scripture is inspired

by God and is profitable for equipping the Saints in every good work.

Today Paul charges Timothy to ground his teaching in the word of God.

This isn't just a suggestion from Paul, it's a charge, a command.

A time will soon come when people will reject sound teaching and instead seek to find teachers

who tell them what they want to hear.
