Timothy we are not surprised when Paul describes opposition in ministry. In First

Timothy Paul described false teachers infiltrating the church and attempting to

lead the church astray. In fact in First 1st Timothy 4, Paul attributes this false teaching to the teaching of demons.

Yesterday, Paul revisited these false teachers, and today he will again warn Timothy of more hardship to come.

But Timothy shouldn't be surprised either. He's witnessed much of Paul's suffering first hand.

As Paul's team said in the disciples in Listera, Iconium, and Antioch, it is necessary to go through

many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God. Today, Paul will draw a line between godlessness and godliness, teaching Timothy to guard himself

and his congregation against those who want to deceive the vulnerable.

However, despite this evil, Paul does not leave Timothy ill-equipped.

Paul reminds Timothy of his own ministry and of the sufficiency of scripture to guide
