Before we begin, I want to ask you a question. Have you ever spent time with a

loved one who was expected to pass away soon? I can imagine you treasure these last moments. What

Maybe you shared a few memories. I'm sure there were tears, perhaps even laughter.

If your loved one could speak, I'm sure they shared with you meaningful words that they wanted you to hold on to.

And this week, as we study 2 Timothy, this is the kind of tone we will hear from some of Paul's final words to his beloved son in the faith,

Timothy. The tone is both personal and passionate, as Paul imparts his wisdom, his desire for

Timothy's perseverance in the faith,

and Paul's confidence that enduring for the sake of the gospel

is worth the cost.

Church tradition holds that Paul wrote 2nd Timothy

from a prison cell in the maritime prison in Rome about 4 years after he wrote First Timothy.
