0:26.5	My name is Katie, and today we move into Second Thessalonians together
0:30.7	in our year-long study of the New Testament. Today we are in Second
0:35.4	Thessalonians 1. As always you can follow along with the behold studies in the

0:43.2	Let's spend some more time with the Thessalonian Church.
0:46.6	As we read in First Thessalonians this Church is experiencing persecution.
0:51.2	From a human lens this Church has a lot of obstacles standing in the way.
0:55.6	They are being persecuted. They are a young church and we will learn in
1:00.0	second Thessalonians that false teaching is infiltrating the doctrine of new believers.
1:05.6	Paul writes in Second Thessalonians soon after he writes his first letter.
1:10.2	We know this because the chapter begins with a greeting from Paul, Silas, and Timothy,
1:14.9	just as first Thessalonians did. Paul's team is still together in ministry.
1:20.4	Also, one of the problems that he addresses in the first letter is clearly still a problem here in the second.
1:26.4	The close turnaround in the second letter clues us into the urgency of Paul's writing here.
1:32.0	His desire to clear up false teachings that will threaten
1:34.8	the Thessalonians' ability to endure persecution with hope.
1:39.2	So what is this false teaching?
