My name is Kristen and my name is Katie and we want to spend a few minutes a day with you walking through the New Testament one chapter at a time. This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know him, not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that

0:29.6	Thessalonians in our year-long study of the New Testament.
0:33.0	Today we will close out this letter by studying First Thessalonians Pive.

0:44.6	All right friends yesterday Paul encouraged the persecuted Thessalonians by
0:49.3	drawing their attention to Jesus's return. He taught them that there is not one second where their
0:54.4	soul will be apart from Christ. Even if they die before Jesus's second coming,
0:59.2	when they close their eyes in this world, their soul's eyes will open to Jesus.
1:04.6	That is a hope that they can cling to.
1:07.1	Today Paul continues to encourage the suffering Thessalonians by teaching them what it means
1:12.0	to live in light of Christ's return.
1:15.0	But first, let's define Day of the Lord, which Paul describes in 1st
1:18.8	Thessalonians 5, 1 through 11.
1:21.2	Put simply, the Day of the Lord is the Second Coming of Christ, when Jesus
1:24.8	will finally come in glory to establish his kingdom in full. For Christians, this is
1:29.8	a day of great hope. For those who reject Jesus, this day should be feared. For God's
1:36.3	wrath will be poured out on his enemies. The knowledge of the exact time and date of
1:41.6	Christ's return is not for us to know. Jesus even says in
1:45.5	Matthew 2436 now concerning that day an hour no one knows neither the angels of heaven nor the son except the father alone.
