Today we are beginning Second Corinthians.

Let's dive in to Second Corinthians 1.

Just like we did for First Corinthians, let's take a moment to look at the who,

what, when, where, and why of this book before we start breaking it down. Some of this

information will be the same as 1st Corinthians, but there's also some new

information that will be helpful for us to understand this book as we read together.

Let's talk about the who of Second Corinthians. It's no surprise to us that Paul wrote

second Corinthians and that he wrote it to the Church in Corinth. One

important note about this book is that some scholars believe that Paul wrote

chapters one through nine to one group of people within the Corinthian church,

those who supported his ministry and as a result clung to the gospel truths that he taught them.

And then he wrote chapters 10 through 13 to another group, those who opposed his ministry

and embraced another gospel.

As we read and study, you'll notice a shift in Paul's message and communication style around chapter 10 as a result of this.
