Summary

Who are we trying to promote in our lives, us or God? In this episode, Emma Dotter points out man’s tendency to lean toward temporary gratification in seeking praise, but that those who choose to be rooted deep in the house of God shine for Christ, not themselves. As believers, we are ambassadors for Christ and witnesses to all people, and we are left with the choice whether to glorify Him and trust in His steadfast love and power in our lives.

0:27.4	I want to take you back in time for a moment. I would have dance practice very early in the morning.
0:34.1	It was very common for me to drive to school or practice with the windows down and my music
0:39.1	blaring. And the more I walked with Jesus, the more I knew that the messages I put into my mind mattered,
0:45.2	especially those I was receiving through music and the media. And at this point, I had definitely
0:50.4	become, and I'm slightly embarrassed to say it now, a pretty strong Toby Mac fan. And there
0:56.5	was one song in particular that I really liked. It was called Steal My Show. And the lyrics went like
1:01.9	this. If you want to steal my show, I'll sit back and watch you go. If you've got something to say,
1:07.5	go on and take it away. Need you to steal my show. Can't wait to watch you go,
1:12.8	so take it away. And the idea is that when you steal a show where a performer steals the show,
1:18.3	they get all the attention. After the show, everyone talks about them. They were the highlight performer.
1:24.2	They stole the show. They got everyone's attention. And the idea in the song
1:28.8	is that our lives should be a stage on which Jesus can steal the show. And it's a little cheesy,
1:35.3	but the message rings true. We need Jesus to steal the show because it shouldn't be all about us.
1:41.2	And as a high school kid at a huge Texas high school head girl on the dance team,
1:46.1	I knew there were a lot of eyes on me, but more importantly, I knew that their eyes should look
1:51.6	at me and see Jesus. So I found the song encouraging. It was a great way to start my day, because
