Summary

Today on the podcast, Emma Dotter is joined by new Join The Journey Volunteer Admin, Lauren Atkinson, to discuss what David means in Psalm 53 when he says “there is none who does good.” David defines a fool not by someone’s intellectual capacity but by their spiritual state. Fools reject God in their hearts, and that is all of us before Christ. David cries out to God for salvation to come out of Zion. We know now the answer to David’s prayer. A Savior has come out of Zion, and His Name is Jesus Christ.

Why are you on the journey team?

Yeah, of course. Well, I'm excited to be here. Like Emma said, my name is Lauren, and I'm from Rolling,

North Carolina, so I just moved to Dallas three months ago. And I became a believer when I was really

1:07.6

young. So one of my earliest memories is when I gave my life to Jesus,

1:11.0

which is crazy to think about. My parents are believers, and we would read the Bible every night

1:15.7

before I went to bed. And I remember when I was like three or four, we were reading and I realized

1:20.3

that... Three or four? Yeah, super young. It's so little. It's crazy to think about that. Yeah, I remember

1:26.1

just learning that Jesus died because I was a sinner and I needed him for salvation. And obviously at three years old, I didn't fully comprehend the gospel or all that that would impact my life, but I knew that I wanted to follow Jesus. And so growing up, I went to a Christian private school and I really wanted to be the perfect daughter, the perfect student, the perfect athlete.

And I knew there was nothing I could do on my own to be righteous with God, but it was like I still wanted to try.

1:56.0

Almost like I thought I was pretty good, and I just needed Jesus's grace to bump me up to a standard of

perfection. And then when I went to college, I went to UNC Chapel Hill, go heels,

and I got to study exercise science and marketing. But honestly, what I really learned in college
