This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know

him not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that

Welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

My name is Kristen, and I am so excited to be walking through First Timothy with you

in our year-long study of the New Testament.

Today we are studying 1st

Timothy 4 and as always you can find all the information about the behold

studies and the free reading plan in the show notes below. So far in 1st Timothy Paul has provided Timothy with instruction for how

Christians should conduct themselves in God's household. We've run instruction for prayer, worship,

for the character of elders and deacons. Today Paul

will turn his attention to encouraging Timothy as he ministers to the church in

Ephesus. As we begin the chapter we see that Paul is not instructing the church flippantly.

There's a lot at stake.

Satan hates for the church to flourish and will do anything in his power to deceive and distract hearts away from Christ.

He will do so through hypocritical teachers and deceiving spirits that thwart the gospel.

Paul says that this will happen in later times.

For many of us, when we hear of later times or last days,

we're tempted to think of the end of the world or a time

right before Jesus comes back.
