Yesterday we began Paul's first letter to his beloved son in the

thief Timothy who was ministering to the church in Ephesus and we learned that

there were some false teachings circulating in the church. In order to

combat these false teachings restore order within the Ephesian Church and

encourage Timothy and ministry, Paul writes First Timothy. In our chapter today, Paul instruct

the Ephesion Church.

It's like an older mentor advising a younger mentee.

Except this particular mentor Paul is an apostle with authority from Jesus.

That's why we see Paul make an aside of sorts reminding Timothy that the credibility of his

Paul begins by calling the Ephesian Church

to prayer, all types of prayer for all types of people.

He is showing us just how important prayer is. He specifies petitions,
