Hey friends, welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Katie, and it is my joy to walk with you through First Thessalonians in our year-long study of the New Testament.

Today, we are studying First Thessalonians for. As always, you can follow along with the Behold studies in the Daily Grace Coat Shop or with the reading plan linked in the show notes.

So far, in First Thessalonians, Paul has reflected on his relationship with the church.

The Thessalonians have been a great source of encouragement for Paul and his team.

They are evidence of the Holy Spirit's power to work and establish believers for Christ's glory, even amidst unfavorable circumstances.

Remember, the Church of Thessalonica heard Paul preach the gospel.

They believed in Christ and then witnessed a riot form against Paul that

chased him out of the city. The new believers were left to face this persecution on their own

without an apostle to guide them. But even so, the church flourished in faith. The Holy Spirit

taught and knit them together as believers. As Paul reflects on his time with

the Thessalonians in chapters 1 through 3, he delivers no rebuke of the church. We have seen

him rebuke other churches like Corinth and Galatia, but not Thessalonica. They have brought Paul

much joy and encouragement. But that doesn't mean the Thessalonians were perfect.

Though Timothy's visit brought back good news of their faith flourishing,

it seems that the visit did reveal some struggles of the fledgling church.

Today, Paul will provide some encouragement to address these struggles.

lacking in their faith? Well, today, in this chapter, he provides three encouragements to help
