They are a brand new church, all converts to Christianity from Paul's brief stay in their city.

But unfortunately, after only a brief period of ministry there,

Paul was forced out of town after a riot broke out.

Paul left swiftly, leaving these new believers to cling to Paul's message, seemingly as sheep

without a shepherd.

I can imagine Paul stresses he left, desperately desiring to nurture these new believers in their faith.

And yet, Paul had to trust that the work of the Spirit now in dwelling this brand new church

would be their God. As silly as it sounds Paul had to trust that

Christ was sufficient for these new believers and spoiler alert he is.
