Welcome back to part two of our journey through Song of Songs.

Yesterday, we took some time to really dive into the context of this book to help us understand its importance.

And today, we will look at the content for all eight chapters and see what they teach us about marriage and how they point us to Christ.

So let's get started.

As I mentioned yesterday, we have a few main characters in this song.

But the main two are the Shulomite women and Solomon.

Their words to each other make up the bulk of the song.

The song has two major sections.

Chapters one through four will display the early stages of love.

For those who have been in love, this is the time where your love and desire for one another builds and then culminates in marriage and the consummation of your relationship.

The consummation in Song of Songs takes place at the end of chapter four and the beginning of chapter five.

Chapters five through eight then describe the increasing and growing love found within the marriage relationship.

Let's start with chapters one through two.

The song begins with the woman's strong desire for the man.

She also describes herself.

Her dark complexion leads us to believe she is a shepherdess who has worked in the fields.

Already, we see the stark contrast between the Shulomite women and the princesses from other nations Solomon married for political reasons.
