| 0:38.0 | but the themes found within them could easily place them in this time period when David's kingdom is being established through his military campaigns. |
| 0:49.0 | The first three Psalms will point our hearts toward Thanksgiving while the last two are prayers of individual lament. |
| 0:58.0 | But we will see the common thread between them all is God's faithfulness. |
| 1:04.0 | We begin with Psalm 65. |
| 1:07.0 | This Psalm of Thanksgiving celebrated a season of plenty after a season of drought. |
| 1:15.0 | This Psalm specifically speaks to God's role as creator. |
| 1:20.0 | David uses the picture of water, streams and showers to depict God's provision and how he sustains his creation. |
| 1:30.0 | Even the earth celebrates the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord. |
| 1:36.0 | But perhaps the verse that brings us the most joy is verse four, which says, |
| 1:41.0 | how happy is the one you choose and bring near to live in your courts? |
| 1:47.0 | We will be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple. |
| 1:53.0 | David's satisfaction and hours comes from the very presence of the Lord. |
| 2:00.0 | We are satisfied by his goodness and holiness just as the earth is satisfied by the water. |
| 2:08.0 | His faithfulness abounds to his children and his creation. |
| 2:14.0 | Psalm 66 is also a prayer of Thanksgiving written by an unknown author. |
