Tiffany here and today our journey through Proverbs continues.

We want to remember that in chapters 1 through 9, Solomon directly addresses his son about the path of wisdom and the path of the foolish.

As his pleas and instructions close today, we will clearly see how sin is nothing but empty promises leading to destruction.

And in contrast, wisdom always delivers on the promise of eternal life for those who fear the Lord.

We start today with Proverbs chapter 7, which continues Solomon's warning against adultery in the last half of chapter 6.

In chapter 6, Solomon warned against adultery and its consequences.

In chapter 7, he warned against the very seduction that leads to adultery.

He begins in verses 1 through 5 by reminding his son to listen to him and to say to wisdom, you are my sister.

Remember, when we studied song of songs, we learned that the term sister was an endearing term for one's wife.

In other words, Solomon tells his son to bind himself to wisdom like a man in a marriage covenant.

Commitment to wisdom guards against the fleeting, seductive passions of a temptarest or adulterous woman.

Solomon uses an illustration of a man and woman he observed through his window.

The man was young, lacked sense, and was in the wrong place.

While the woman, a temptress, was on the path of folly as she seduced him.

Verses 13 through 20 detail everything in her arsenal to seduce this man, from an enticing environment to alluring smells and opportunity.

Verse 21 says, she seduces him with her persistent pleading.

And sadly, he falls for the snare and trap she lays.
