Hey friends, welcome back to our journey from Eden to Eternity.

Tiffany here, and today we continue in the book of Proverbs as we take a look at chapters three through six.

There are a lot of warnings concerning various aspects of life throughout these chapters,

but nestled in at the end of chapter four is our main takeaway today.

Guard your heart.

Solomon will share many ways in which we can do this and how we can and should avoid evil.

Wisdom begins in a heart that fears the Lord.

Not out of terror, but out of reverence and awe for all he's done.

We heed the wisdom found in these chapters because they enable us to grow in holiness and love our neighbor well.

We begin today with chapter three.

There are several often quoted verses found within this chapter.

The first is found in verses five through six, which say,

trust the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding.

In all your ways know him and he will make your path straight.

These verses are just one set of the six instructions in the first twelve verses.

Each set has a cause and effect or an if then pattern.

For verses five and six, if we trust in the Lord and rely on his understanding, our paths will be straight.

In other verses, we see that if we are faithful and loyal, then we will find favor with God and people.
